BROOKINGS – South Dakota State freshman and former Brookings High School standout Madison Gray (1) edges Mary’s Abbey Zastrow (8) at the finish line to win the eighth section of the women’s 600-meter run in a time of 1 minute, 35.66 seconds during Day 1 of the SDSU Indoor Classic on Friday at the Sanford-Jackrabbit Athletic Complex.
Gray placed fourth overall in a field of 64 runners, as Jackrabbit junior Krista Steele was the winner in 1:32.63 – tenth of a second off the meet record.
Iowa Central Community College’s India McNeill (1:34.64) and Minnesota-Duluth’s Paige Du Bois (1:34.77) were second and third, respectively, and Zastrow (1:35.99) ended up fifth.
The meet concludes today, with running events beginning at 9 a.m. and field events at 11 a.m.
