GRAND FORKS, N.D. – South Dakota State sophomore Coby Hilton broke the indoor school record in the men’s 200-meter dash as the Jackrabbit track and field squads swept North Dakota in dual action Saturday.

Men

The Jackrabbits defeated the Fighting Hawks 93-54 in the dual.

Hilton, a sophomore, crossed in 21.41 seconds in the 200 to win the event and break the school mark of 21.82 previously held by Luke Leischner (2011).

SDSU won nine other individual events: Sam Zenner, 60 meters, 6.79; Michael Schwinghamer, mile, 4:19.21; Jordan Hanna, 800 meters, 1:56.19; Nick Wessels, 60-meter hurdles, 8.31; Trent Francom, pole vault, 16 feet, 4 3/4 inches; Tre Manning, long jump, 23-0; Sage Hagen, triple jump, 46-0 3/4; Noah Huber, shot put, 55-5 3/4; Logan Ammons, weight throw, 60-3.

Sam Johnson, Caleb Bray, Reid Pierzinski and Cameron Kuil placed first in the 4x400-meter relay with a 3:19.33 clocking.

Women

SDSU beat UND 76-69 in the dual.

Krista Steele placed first in the 800 meters in a time of 2:16.68 and Oksana Covey matched that finish in the 400 with a 57.19-second clocking.

Ellie Friesen (10:02.74) won the mile, Jaymie O’Connor (8.79) the 60 hurdles and Micayla TerWee (46-0 1/2) the shot put.

Delaney Carlson, Allison Sebern, Steele Covey and took the top spot in the 4x400 relay in 3:56.8.

The Jim Emmerich Invitational is Saturday at 12:30 p.m. at the Sanford-Jackrabbit Athletic Complex in Brookings.
