BROOKINGS – South Dakota State picked up two victories at home over the weekend. The Jackrabbits beat Fresno State on Saturday and topped Stanford on Sunday.

SDSU wrestling goes 2-0 on the weekend

BROOKINGS – South Dakota State picked up two victories at home over the weekend. The Jackrabbits beat Fresno State on Saturday and topped Stanford on Sunday.

• SDSU 26, Fresno State 12

Tanner Sloan and Zach Carlson each picked up major decision wins in a victory over the Bulldogs.

Carlson beat Hunter Cruz 16-2 in the 184-pound weight class. Sloan won 9-0 at 197.

Fresno State forfeited two matches. SDSU won a total of six matches. 

Clay Carlson won via decision after beating Gary Joint 7-3 at 141. At 165, Tanner Cook beat Adam Kemp 18-12.

 SDSU 34, Stanford 4

The Jackrabbits only lost one match and it was the last one of the night. 

Cook kicked things off at 174 at picked up a 4-0 win over Gabe Dinette. Zach Carlson won a 16-5 major decision at 184.

Sloan won 7-2 against Nathan Traxler at 197. Blake Wolters won the heavyweight match 7-1 against Trevor Rasmussen.

Danny Vega won at 125 6-3 over Jackson DiSario. At 133, Zach Price picked up a 15-0 technical fall win over Luciano Arroyo. Clay Carlson beat Fabian Santillan in a 10-2 major decision victory.

Henry Pohlmeyer won by forfeit and Garret Jordan beat Ethan Woods 9-3 at 157. In the final match at 165, David Griffith beat Kenny O’Neil 16-5.

SDSU has now won five-straight duals and is now 12-5 on the season. They will close out the regular season Friday night when they host North Dakota State.
