VERMILLION – South Dakota swept South Dakota State 25-16, 25-17, 25-17 in a Summit League volleyball match Friday night at the Sanford Coyote Sports Center.
Hayley Dotseth totaled 12 kills, two blocks (one solo), a service ace and 16 digs for the Coyotes (11-7, 5-1). Meagan Kerns added 10 kills, 1 1/2 blocks (one solo) and an ace. Brittany Jessen dished out 36 set assists to go with five kills, four aces and a block. Elizabeth Loschen tallied eight kills and 1 1/2 blocks.
USD used a 6-0 spurt to grab a 16-8 lead en route to the win in Set. 1. The Coyotes closed the second set on an 8-1 run and the third on a 7-0 run.
The Jackrabbits’ Erin Cutts had seven kills and an ace, while Ashlynn Smith finished with seven kills and a block. Macy Smith contributed three kills, two aces and a block. Hanna Jellema chipped in with four kills and 1 1/2 blocks (one solo).
Maddie Fay (14) and Mattison Munger (six) combined for 20 set assists. Ellie Benson came up with 16 digs to push her career total to 942.
