CLOQUET, Minn. – Jack Suchy scored a pair of goals and Aaron Myers, Dylan Johnson and Gavin Rasmussen added one apiece as the Wilderness beat the Blizzard 5-4 in an NAHL Central Division game Saturday night at Northwoods Credit Union Arena.
The home team led 1-0 after a period and 4-3 through two.
The Wilderness took a 5-3 lead on Rasmussen’s goal – assisted by Johnson and Ashton Altmann – with 17:40 remaining.
Brendan Aird found the back of the net with 9 seconds to go but Brookings’ rally came up short.
Brookings native Carter Krogman had a goal and an assist for the Blizzard. He has five points – a pair of goals and a trio of assists – in 14 appearances this season.
Aird tallied an assist to go with his late goal.
Owen Belisle and Bud Winter both lit the lamp.
Gabe Wahl dished out two assists and Nicklas Andrews and Kendrick Frost both notched one.
Ryan Fanti made 33 saves for the Wilderness (9-8-1-0, 19 points). Jack Caruso stopped 34 shots in the loss.
Brookings (2-13-1-1, 6 points) plays at Minot on Friday at 7:35 p.m. and Saturday at 8:05 p.m.
