BROOKINGS — Woodbine Productions will present its highly anticipated 2024-25 concert series, hosted by the South Dakota State University School of Performing Arts at the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center in Brookings. This season promises to be a celebration of artistry and excellence, featuring three world-class performances.

Director of the School of Performing Arts David Reynolds believes this might be one of the most diverse and finest seasons yet. “We are eternally grateful for the opportunities this program continues to offer our students and faculty and the entire region. To host musicians of this caliber and provide interaction with our students is a gift that endures and impacts them forever.”

The series kicks off with a historic 50th concert on Oct. 15, starring the legendary Michael Feinstein in “Because of You: My Tribute to Tony Bennett.” Feinstein, a five-time Grammy nominee, will pay homage to his dear friend and musical icon Tony Bennett, alongside the renowned Carnegie Hall Big Band. Expect an unforgettable evening of classic hits and intimate stories that highlight Bennett’s illustrious career.

On Feb. 18, the Academy of St Martin in the Fields, one of the world’s most revered chamber orchestras, will take the stage. Joining the orchestra is pianist Bruce Liu, the 2021 Chopin International Piano Competition winner known for his breathtaking technique and passion. Together, they will perform a selection of iconic works, blending classical precision with emotional depth.

Concluding the season on May 1, Step Afrika! will bring the energy and rhythm of traditional African stepping to Brookings. This dynamic ensemble is celebrated for its electrifying performances that combine percussive dance, storytelling and vibrant music, offering a powerful cultural experience.

Woodbine Productions is a gift from an anonymous donor to the SDSU School of Performing Arts and the greater community of Brookings. With the goal of bringing the finest performers to engage with students at the university and the greater region, the series celebrates the 50th presentation this season. All ticket purchases are deposited into a scholarship fund for Jackrabbits students participating in music. In the 18 years of the program, nearly $850,000 in scholarships have been awarded.
