ARLINGTON – The hosts swept Deuel in a matchup of Cardinals on Tuesday, winning the girls’ game 45-15 and the boys’ contest 59-58.
The Arlington girls improved to 5-2 and the boys moved to 4-2. Both teams host Elkton-Lake Benton on Friday.
GIRLS
• Arlington 45, Deuel 15
Arlington limited Deuel to 11.8-percent (4-of-34) shooting and forced 24 turnovers – 16 of which came on steals.
The homestanding Cardinals were up 10-6 after a quarter, 19-11 at halftime and 27-13 through three.
Hadley Carlson posted a double-double of 14 points and 13 rebounds to go with six steals.
Harley Johnson added 12 markers and eight boards.
Grace Parry chipped in with nine points and six rebounds.
BOYS
• Arlington 59, Deuel 58
Arlington used a big third quarter to beat Deuel.
The visitors led 21-20 after a quarter and 34-26 halftime. The home squad moved ahead 44-39 heading to the fourth.
Chris Wallace notched a double-double of 12 points and 11 rebounds before fouling out.
Caden Letsche scored 17 points off the bench. Ryker Erstad (six steals) had 13 points and Mason Bunker 12 to go with five steals, five assists and four boards.
Arlington shot 40.8 percent (20-of-49) from the field.
Deuel’s Zane Bingham recorded a double-double of 13 points and 14 boards. Layton Eide had 19 points and Cooper Schiernbeck 10.
