AUSTIN, Minn. – After a Friday overtime loss to Austin, the Blizzard responded with a 2-0 Central Division shutout win over the second-place Bruins on the road Saturday night at Riverside Arena.

AUSTIN, Minn. – After a Friday overtime loss to Austin, the Blizzard responded with a 2-0 Central Division shutout win over the second-place Bruins on the road Saturday night at Riverside Arena.

After a scoreless first, Brookings scored single goals in both the second and third period to claim its fourth win of the season.

Brendan Aird lit the lamp off an assist from Bud Winter with 13:03 to play in the second period, and then, Nicklas Andrews tacked on an unassisted, empty-net goal with 6 seconds to play in the game for the final margin.

George McBey finished with 38 saves as the Bruins held a 38-14 edge in shots.

Brookings, which improved to 4-27-2-1 on the season.

The Blizzard travel to Bismarck this weekend for a pair of games against the Bobcats. The puck drops at 7:15 p.m. on Friday and Saturday at the VFW Sports Center.
