Bobcats take on Tigers in track and field

BROOKINGS – The Bobcats battled the wind – and the Harrisburg Tigers – in a track and field dual on Friday afternoon at the BHS Sports Complex. Madison had three girls and two boys compete in the pole vault event.

The ‘Cats return to their home track on Tuesday in the Bob Coffey Meet. Competition starts at 3:30 p.m.

GIRLS

Three Brookings girls won events as Ellie Hegdahl crossed the finish line in 48.98 seconds in the 300-meter hurdles; Rachel Gannon went 15 feet, 6 1/4 inch in the long jump; and Kailee Bartels posted a triple jump of 32 feet, 3/4 inch.

The Bobcat girls also won the 4x400 relay in 4:15.10.

Some solid finishes for the girls included the 100 dash where Miranda Ysbrand placed second in 13.71, followed by Kaycee Burgess (14.02) and Tatum Sheridan (14.04) in third and fourth.

Anya Schoeld finished fourth in the 200 in 29.92, while Ellie Abraham (1:01.29) and Cherish Stern (1:03.99) were second and third, respectively, in the 400.

Kayla Shoup placed second in the 800 in 2:35.56 as Jessica Gile crossed in 6:41.09 for fourth in the 1,600.

Bartels was second in the 100 hurdles in 15.69, followed by Hegdahl (16.35) and Grace Eggebrecht (16.42) in third and fourth.

Riley Weisbeck was second in the 300 hurdles by .01 to Hegdahl, while Gannon was third in 50.25.

Regan Weisbeck and Erin Hulberg both cleared 8-3 in the pole vault to tie for third.

In the long jump, Olivia Jorgenson (15-5.5), Emma Hardin (15-5), Hannah Siemonsma (15-4.75) and Riley Weisbeck (15-2.25) placed second through fifth behind Gannon.

In the triple jump, Gannon (31-4) and Hardin (30-6) finished second and third to Bartels.

Amanda Schulte placed second in both the shot (34-3.75) and discus (109-0) as Ashley Anderson was third (105-9) in the discus.

BOYS

On the boys’ side, Dillon Jensen won the shot put (44-11.25) and discus (146-5); Cody Caraway took the 400 in 58.96 seconds; Isaac Conrad crossed in 4:50.88 to win the 1,600.

The Bobcat boys also won a pair of relays – the 4x200 in 1:37.52 and the 4x400 in 3:45.32.

Walker Resmen placed second in the 100 in 11.86 as Carson Cody crossed in 24.57 for fifth in the 200.

Hossam Halaweish finished fourth in the 800 (2:12.09) while Caleb Fixsen was fifth in the 110 hurdles in 19.2 seconds and third in the 300 hurdles in 46.26.

Seth Swedlund went 5-6 for third in the high jump as Ayden Ellis and Sam Lehman both cleared 10-9 in the pole to place third and fourth, respectively.

Parker Beers posted a mark of 18-11.75 for fourth in the long jump while Cody went 32 feet in the triple jump for third.

In the shot put, Tucker Christie (39-7), Gus Miller (38-8), Sean Collins (36-10) and Gabe Wounded Head (33-1) finished third through sixth as Christie (118-9) and Collins (116-6) placed second and third in the discus.
