HURON – The Bobcats used the Mark Wendelgass Relays to qualify several athletes for next weekend’s Class AA State Track and Field Meet.

On the girls’ side, Ellie Abraham won the 800-meter run and cut .15 of a second off her automatic qualifying time as she crossed the tape in 2 minutes, 20.13 seconds. Megan Gilk (2:35.15) and Ainsley Powers (2:35.15) placed sixth and seventh, respectively.

Amanda Schulte placed third in the shot with a put of 37 feet, 7 3/4 inches – boosting her already qualified mark by 1/4 of an inch.

In the 100 hurdles, Kailee Bartels finished third in 15.64 seconds – taking .3 of a second off her automatic qualifying time. Grace Eggebrecht (16.65) and Piper Schulz (17.11) placed fourth and fifth, respectively. Eggebrecht had already attained a provisional qualifying time of 16.54.

Eggebrecht improved her provisional time in the 200, placing fourth in 27.59.

Emily Rystrom finished second in the 400 in 1:00.90. She had qualified earlier in the season with a 1:00.74.

Rachel Gannon placed second in the 300 hurdles with a 49.5 – bettering her provisional qualifying time of 49.73. Riley Weisbeck was sixth in 50.65 seconds.

Emma Hardin placed third in the long jump, matching her provisional mark of 16-4 1/4, while Mandy Syhre finished fifth with a jump of 15-11.

Gannon and Bartels placed fourth and fifth in the triple jump with provisional marks of 33-10 1/4 and 33-5 1/2.

Josie Bono placed sixth in the 1,600 with a time of 6:12.95.

The Bobcat girls won four relays – the 4x100 (52.13); the 4x200 (1:49.32); the 4x400 (4:12.88); and the medley (4:48.09).

On the boys’ side, Isaac Conrad, who already has a provisional qualifying time of 2:01, won the 800 in 2:03.35.

Jacob Jenson placed second in the discus with a qualifying throw of 145-11.

Caleb Fixsen finished fourth in the 110 hurdles in 17.48 while Schaffer Vestal placed sixth in the 1,600 in 5:09.12.

Seth Swedlund tied for fifth in the high jump with a leap of 5-7.

Riley Schafer (55.51) and Preston Helmbolt (55.62) were seventh and eighth in the 400 and Carson Cody was seventh in the 200 in 24.45 seconds.

The Bobcats placed second the in 4x200 (1:36.71) and sprint medley (4:19.08) to go along with a fourth-place finish in the 4x100 in 54.04 seconds.
