BROOKINGS – The Rangers and Sioux Falls (2) tied 2-2 in a South Dakota Amateur Hockey Association boys’ game Friday night at Larson Ice Center.

BROOKINGS – The Rangers and Sioux Falls (2) tied 2-2 in a South Dakota Amateur Hockey Association boys’ game Friday night at Larson Ice Center.

The Flyers’ Ryan Flanagan opened the scoring with a short-handed goal 5 minutes into the contest.

Max Kjelden pulled Brookings even later in the first. Logan Bortnem was credited with the assist.

Breck Hirrschoff lit the lamp on assists from Carter Merritt and Talon Richter as the power-play tally put the home team up 2-1 with 2:05 remaining in the second.

Sioux Falls pulled even after Jacob Sarahan found the back of the net with 10:22 to go in the game.

Kade Brecher made 14 saves for Brookings.

Kadin Huyser stopped 42 shots for the Flyers, who now have a 4-4-1-0 record.

The teams face off again tonight at 6:45 in Sioux Falls. The Rangers (6-1-1-0) then play at Aberdeen on Sunday at 5 p.m.
