VOLGA – The Cossacks took care of business in the opening round of the Region 2A Volleyball Tournament on their home court Tuesday night.

Sioux Valley beat Deuel in four sets, 25-16, 25-11, 23-25, 25-19, to advance to a Thursday semifinal against the Lady Bulldogs in Madison at 8 p.m.

The Cossacks put up some gaudy offensive numbers as Miakken Vincent led the attack with 15 kills while Perri Liedtke and Rylan Willis tallied nine apiece as Liedtke hit at a .444 clip and Willis finished at .421.

Alicia VanderWal added five kills as Sioux Valley, 10-23, hit .212 as a team.

Vincent and Hayden Hauge each notched 14 set assists as Bekah Bahn collected 24 digs and Vincent had 16 while tacking on three solo blocks and a pair of block assists.

Jaydyn TeGantvoort’s 13 kills and 14 digs led the Cardinals, who finished with a 6-24 mark.

Sarah Ronne had 25 set assists while Saycia Sime totaled 12 digs and Kendra Damm added six kills and 11 digs.

FLANDREAU – The Fliers swept the Lady Indians 25-18, 25-13, 25-7.

Rylee Iott had six kills and three digs. Marianna Pavlis and Melina Matthys both added five kills.

Hannah Parsley recorded six service aces, while Jaycie Pulscher and Anna Gassman added four apiece. Pulscher (15) and Shalyn Peters (eight) combined for 23 set assists.

FIS finished the season 1-19.

Flandreau (14-14) plays at Hamlin (18-8) in the semifinals Thursday at 7 p.m.
