ELMHURST, Ill. – South Dakota State’s Mike Daum was selected as the Summit League Male Athlete of the Month for February, announced Thursday by the league office.
Daum earned the fourth Athlete of the Month honor in his career and third this season after being named Summit League Men’s Basketball Player of the Year for the second consecutive year.
For the month, the junior averaged a double-double of 25.3 points and 11.8 rebounds per contest in leading the Jackrabbits to a perfect 6-0 record and the program’s first-ever outright regular-season Summit League title.
A two-time Player of the Week in February, the Kimball, Neb., native had five double-doubles and five 20-point games during the month while breaking the 30-point barrier three times. He tallied 31 points in wins over North Dakota State and IPFW, while adding 30 against Western Illinois.
On the year, Daum ranks sixth nationally in scoring (23.8) and 15th in the country in rebounding (10.4).
