Harrisburg sweeps DH from Bobcats

BROOKINGS – Harrisburg swept a doubleheader from Brookings to wrap up the regular season on Monday at Bob Shelden Field, winning 8-4 and 11-7.

The Bobcats, who entered the day on a three-game winning streak, are 5-12.

The Class A Regionals are Saturday, May 19.

Game 1

 Harrisburg 8, Brookings 4

The Tigers put up four runs in the top of the seventh inning, highlighted by RBI singles from Dillon Janak and Tyson Kogel, to secure the win.

Kogel later scored on an error and Jared Inskeep scored on a balk.

Leadoff hitter Trevor Berreth went 3-for-5 with a triple and a double. Jack Reiburn tallied a two-run double in the fifth inning. Kogel ended up 2-for-3.

Inskeep tossed the final three innings, giving up one run on four hits, to pick up the win.

The Bobcats’ Rhett Zelinsky was 2-for-2 with an RBI. Ryan McMacken went 2-for-3 with a double and Brock Luze finished 2-for-4. Parker Rykhus and Justin Devine both drove in a run.

 Harrisburg 11, Brookings 7

The Tigers raced out to an 8-1 lead after four innings and then held off the Bobcats.

Payton Metzger wnet 3-for-4 with an RBI. Jack Reiburn (two hits), Dillon Janak and Collin Kehrewald each drove in a pair of runs. Jack Reiburn had two hits.

Anthony Lanier pitched four hitless innings to pick up the win, allowing one run – unearned – with seven strikeouts.

Brookings’ Tyler Kreutner had a two-run triple. Tanner Shepardson, Parker Rykhus, Rhett Zelinsky and Justin Devine each added an RBI.
