BROOKINGS – South Dakota State Director of Golf Casey VanDamme didn't have look very far for his recent addition to the women's golf team, adding Brookings High School's Brooke Piearson to the roster Monday.
"Brooke has a lot of potential as a golfer. She has a great competitive drive and a lot of speed," VanDamme said. "I look forward to her development as a player, with hard work I think she could be a very good."
Piearson comes into the Jackrabbit program as a two-time all-state and four-time all-conference selection. She placed eighth at the state tournament, shooting a 158 (82-76) and tied for third at the Eastern South Dakota Conference championship as a senior.
Piearson won the Brandon Valley Quadrangular and placed second at the Yankton Invitational this past season.
On the South Dakota Golf Associations (SDGA) circuit, Piearson won the 2016 Cattail Crossing and six other SDGA events in 2014, including the 36th Annual Junior Championship.
The Jackrabbits open the fall portion of their 2017-18 schedule in September.
