BROOKINGS – South Dakota State and head men’s basketball coach Eric Henderson announced the non-conference portion of its 2021-22 schedule Tuesday afternoon. The slate is highlighted by contests at Alabama and Stephen F. Austin and neutral site games against Washington and Washington State.
“We are extremely excited about the challenging schedule we’ve put together,” Henderson said. “Playing eight of our 13 non-conference games in the state of South Dakota is a great opportunity for our fans to come watch this team play. The difficult schedule also helps prepare us for Summit League play when we hope to be playing our best basketball.”
The Jackrabbits open the 2021-22 season on Nov. 9 at home against Bradley before hitting the road to Tuscaloosa for a Nov. 12 showdown against an Alabama squad that made the Sweet 16 last season. From there, SDSU will fly to Nacogdoches, Texas for a matchup at Stephen F. Austin on Nov. 14.
SDSU then returns to Frost Arena for back-to-back home games against Montana State (Nov. 17) and Presentation (Nov. 18).
The Jacks will take a quick trip south on I-29 for its holiday tournament where they will meet Nevada (Nov. 22), Washington (Nov. 23) and George Mason (Nov. 24) at the Crossover Classic in Sioux Falls.
Henderson’s squad will play its final home non-conference games against Prairie View A&M (Nov. 30) and Minnesota Morris (Dec. 3) before heading west for a matchup at Idaho (Dec. 8) and a neutral site game against Washington State (Dec. 11) in Spokane, Wash.
