ELKTON – The top two boys' basketball teams in Region 4B squared off Tuesday night and Howard got the best of Elkton-Lake Benton.
ELB led 11-10 after the first quarter. They kept it going in the second quarter and led by five at halftime.
Howard fought its way back and tied the game heading into the fourth quarter. The Tigers kept the momentum going in the fourth quarter and came away with a 57-54 victory.
Sam Aslesen led the Tigers with 28 points. Tisyn Spader scored 15 points.
The Elks were led by Matthew Nibbe who scored 14 points and grabbed five rebounds. Marcus Harming had 13 points. Aiden Erickson scored 12 points.
ELB is 10-3 and to Rutland Friday to take on Oldham-Ramona/Rutland. Howard is 11-1 and travels to Ethan Friday.
