SIOUX FALLS – South Dakota State women’s golfer Teresa Toscano was named Summit League Female Athlete of the Month, announced Tuesday by the conference office.

Toscano captured three individual tournament titles and led the Jackrabbits to two team titles throughout the month of March. She has won a total of seven events in her career.

The senior from Huelva, Spain, recorded a 70.25 stroke average over eight rounds in the month and has ranked as high as ninth in the Golfstat College Golf Rankings.

Toscano won the Jackrabbit Invitational as she recorded scores of 71-78-69 to finish the event with a 2-over-par 218 total.

She placed first in the Pizza Hut Lady Thunderbird Invitational in record-setting fashion. Toscano opened with a school-record 8-under 64 on March 11 and followed with a second-round 67 to finish with a 36-hole school record 13-under 131. She finished with 15 birdies in the two rounds and won the event by 13 shots over her nearest competitor.

Toscano closed out March by claiming the title at the Bama Beach Bash. Her 3-under 213 tally was four shots clear of second place. She shot 3-under 69 in the final round and totaled 13 birdies over 54 holes.

This marks Toscano’s first time being named Summit League Athlete of the Month.

She ranks second in Summit League history with 13 combined career weekly and monthly golf honors.
