High School Football

Earlier this summer, the Brookings football team took a trip out to the Black Hills. On the first night, the Bobcats practiced on the field and went into a 7-on-7 drill. The Bobcats worked hard and continued to practice until the coaches ran into a problem – they couldn’t get them off the field.

High School Volleyball

The Brookings Bobcats opened the season with a thriller, defeating Aberdeen Central in five sets on Tuesday night.

The Sioux Valley Cossacks pulled off a sweep in their first match of the year, defeating Deuel in three sets by scores of 25-17, 25-11 and 25-11 on Tuesday night.

High School Golf

The Brookings Bobcats finished in seventh place as they competed in the Pierre Invitational at the Pierre Hillsview Golf Course on Tuesday morning.

High School Volleyball

The Arlington Cardinals were swept in their season opener on Tuesday night, falling to the Wolsey-Wessington Lady Warbirds in straight sets. The Lady Warbirds won all three sets by a score of 25-18.

Sioux Valley and Elkton-Lake Benton were each ranked third in their respective classes in the South Dakota Prep Media Football Poll after week one.

The Brookings Bobcats boys soccer team received votes in the latest South Dakota Class AA soccer polls released on Sunday evening.

High School Soccer

The Brookings Bobcats fell on both ends of a doubleheader against Aberdeen Central at the Fishback Soccer Complex on Saturday afternoon. The boys lost to the Golden Eagles 2-0 in the first game of the double while the girls lost 3-1 in the nightcap. The Bobcats will return to action Thursday when they travel to a doubleheader at Watertown beginning at 4 p.m.

High School Football

The high school football season kicked off on Friday night with plenty of action for area teams as Flandreau, Elkton-Lake Benton and Iroquois/Lake Preston earned victories on opening night.

The Brookings Bobcats dropped a pair of duals falling to Rapid City Stevens 9-0 and Brandon Valley 7-2 during a triangular on Saturday morning.

Legion Baseball

Three members of the Brookings Bandits Post 74 Senior American Legion Baseball team have been named to the Class A All-State team for the 2024 season.

Two members of the Brookings Cubs were honored as Chase McDaniel and Henry Hammrich were named to the 2024 South Dakota Amateur All-Tournament Team on Thursday afternoon.

It took until the 78th minute, but Brayden Love’s header off of a free kick found the back of the net and gave the Brookings boys’ soccer team a 1-0 victory over Tea Area on Tuesday night at Fishback Soccer Park.
