All 10 area track & field teams competed in the Howard Wood Relays on Saturday.

High School Baseball

The Brookings Bobcats split four games over the weekend, winning a game in a doubleheader with Yankton on Saturday and Tea on Sunday. The Bobcats are now 11-10 on the season and will host O’Gorman for a doubleheader at Bob Shelden Field beginning at 5 p.m. Tuesday.

High School Boys Tennis

The Brookings Bobcats split a triangular at the Hillcrest Tennis courts, defeating Aberdeen Central 5-4 and falling to Huron 9-0 on Saturday morning.

High School Softball

The Sioux Valley Cossacks won one of three games at the Watchdog Classic on Saturday morning. The Cossacks defeated Flandreau 7-3 but lost to Alcester-Hudson 12-4 and Tri-Valley 7-6.

The Brookings Bobcats had a busy afternoon as they won two of three games during a quadrangular at the Southbrook Softball Complex on Friday.

College Softball

The South Dakota State softball team went 1-2 in a three-game series against Omaha over the weekend but the Jackrabbits won the Summit League regular season championship with the one victory.

High School Girls Golf

Delilah Fuls finished 17th and Miyah Foerster finished 22nd as the Brookings Bobcats competed at the 2024 Yankton Girls Invitational at the Hillcrest Golf & Country Club on Friday morning.

The South Dakota State men’s golf team finished runner-up at the Summit League Championships Tuesday at Covered Bridge Golf Club. Luke Honner tied for third overall to pace the Jackrabbits.

Local Running

Every year since 2017, Tim Fryer of Hendricks, Minn., has claimed the Arbor Day 5K, which is sponsored by Prairie Striders Running Club. This year was no exception, even though he ran almost 121 miles the weekend before.

South Dakota State softball’s Shannon Lasey and Emma Osmundson were recognized by The Summit League on Monday. Lasey was tabbed as the TicketSmarter co-Peak Pitcher of the Week and Osmundson was named the TicketSmarter Peak Performer of the week by the conference office.
