BROOKINGS – Two Brookings baseball players were selected for All-State recognition as announced on Wednesday by the South Dakota High School Baseball Association.

PIERRE – Aberdeen Central matched their result at last week’s Bill Scholten Invitational as the Golden Eagles took home team conference champion honors at the Eastern South Dakota Conference meet held Tuesday at Hillsview Golf Course in Pierre.

Led by first-team selections Derek Hackman and Ryan Bourassa, five South Dakota State baseball players were honored Tuesday on the 2022 All-Summit League Baseball Team. Selections were determined by a vote among the league’s seven head coaches.

DELL RAPIDS – The Region 2B golf meet was held at Rocky Run Golf Course in Dell Rapids to determine the boys and girls who will qualify for the Class B state tournament.

I probably saw Gov. Kristi Noem’s latest newspaper column before you did. It showed up in my email on Friday evening. I’m still on a few state government email lists, a holdover from my days as a Capitol reporter.

BROOKINGS – The South Dakota State baseball team will begin postseason play tomorrow. The Jackrabbits are the No. 3 seed in the Summit League Tournament and will play No. 2 seeded Oral Roberts, who is hosting the tournament, at 6 p.m. in Tulsa.

BROOKINGS – The turf at the recently remodeled Bob Shelden Field is just under 14 months old and already has seen a massive amount of usage in that short period of time. This coming summer will be no different.

BROOKINGS – After earning the right to host a regional tournament after a 17-7 regular season the Brookings Bobcats baseball team saw its season come to a close in the region championship.

ORLANDO, Fla. – The South Dakota State softball team’s season came to an end on Sunday afternoon as the Jackrabbits lost to Michigan 4-1 in the Orlando Regional.

Fourteen former players will be inducted into the South Dakota High School Basketball Hall of Fame in August. They will be memebers of the Class of 2022 and are from seven different decades ranging from 1947 to 2004.

BROOKINGS – The Brookings Cubs picked up two wins on the weekend in games at Bob Shelden Field.

RAPID CITY – Brookings freshman Carson Kreie, the Bobcats’ flight six representative at the Class AA state tennis tournament in Rapid City, secured a ninth place finish in the flight and was the only Bobcat to win a match during the state tourney.

BROOKINGS – With just one home event on the schedule this spring the Brookings girls’ golf team made the most of getting to play a course they are all familiar with. The Bobcats shot a 352 and placed in a tie for eighth on a warm and blustery day at the Brookings Country Club on the shores of Lake Campbell.

BROOKINGS – Oral Roberts took down the South Dakota State baseball team on Thursday afternoon in a high-scoring affair. The two teams combined for 23 runs as the Golden Eagles came away with a 12-11 victory.

HURON – The Brookings girls’ won four events while the boys won two at the Mark Wendelgass Relays on Thursday at Tiger Stadium in Huron.

DE SMET – Wolsey-Wessington won both the girls and the boys Region 3B track titles on Thursday. Arlington came in second on the girls side and Estelline/Hendricks came in second for the boys.

RAPID CITY – Brookings scored one consolation bracket win in flight six singles on the first day of the Class AA tennis state tournament being held in Rapid City.

ELKTON – The Flandreau girls and Elkton-Lake Benton boys took home team titles on Wednesday at the Region 2A meet held in Elkton.
