Five area golf teams participated in the Hamlin Invitational on Thursday afternoon. The Colman-Egan and Arlington girls and boys, Elkton-Lake Benton boys and Sioux Valley and Flandreau girls were all in attendance.

The Flandreau softball team improved to 3-4 on Thursday night as the Fliers swept a doubleheader against Milbank. They won the first game 7-0 and the second game 19-7.

It’s been an up-and-down season so far for the South Dakota State baseball team. The Jackrabbits have 23 games left on their schedule and they sit at 14-16 overall and 6-5 in the Summit League.

With four straight state championships, the Brookings Rangers are in the midst of their best stretch in program history. But Ranger alums Robb McClemans, JaColby Anderson and Jesse Rounds have contributed to that stretch even with their playing days behind him.

The rink is meaningful as it was the same sheet of ice where the 1980 Olympic Gold Medal Game between the United States and the USSR, commonly known as “The Miracle on Ice” was played on. But for Sorensen, it meant even more.
