The Sioux Valley boys’ basketball team suffered its first loss of the season on Saturday night as the Cossacks fell to De Smet 50-44 in overtime in the Sanford Pentagon Heritage Classic.

The Brookings Bobcats finished 13th at the 2024 Yankton Boys Wrestling Invitational on Saturday afternoon. The Bobcats finished with 53 points while Rapid City Stevens finished in first place with 209.5 points.

The South Dakota State track and field teams garnered ten new entries to the SDSU All-Time Lists along with two school records as the Jacks thrived in the Iowa State Classic and Bison Open on Friday and Saturday.

Thursday the Jackrabbits travel to Fargo to take on second place North Dakota State and then will head to Vermillion on Saturday to play fourth place South Dakota.

It’s rivalry week for the South Dakota State men’s basketball team as the Jackrabbits will host both North Dakota State and South Dakota in a span of four days this weekend.

The Brookings Rangers’ 14U team headed to Wisconsin to participate in the Can/Am Youth Tournament while all levels were in action as part of this week’s Ranger Roundup.

The Sioux Valley girls wrestling team went 2-1 on Tuesday night in a home girls only quadrangular. The Cossacks beat Canistota and Webster Area and then fell to Viborg-Hurley/Irene-Wakonda.

Sioux Falls Washington used a pair of big runs in the first half and a stifling defensive effort in the second half to defeat the Brookings Bobcats 66-46 at Bob Jostad Gymnasium in Brookings High School on Tuesday night.

Deubrook Area and Elkton-Lake Benton picked up victories as part of Tuesday’s area girls basketball slate.

The Elkton-Lake Benton Elks took a lead in the first half and led wire-to-wire in a win over Deuel on Tuesday night.

The Brookings wrestling teams were swept in duals against Harrisburg on Tuesday night. The Bobcat boys 55-21 and the girls were defeated 45-16.
