ABERDEEN — The Brookings Bombers White 13/14U baseball team lost both games of a doubleheader, falling by scores of 12-2 and 12-11 at Aberdeen Smittys on Tuesday night.

The Bombers fell to 3-17 on the year and will host Harrisburg at Bob Shelden Field at 5 p.m. on July 22.

Game 1: Aberdeen 12, Brookings 2

Aberdeen scored eight times in the third inning as the Bombers dropped the first game of the doubleheader 12-2.

Brookings scored both of its runs in the first inning on a rally that began with a leadoff single by Delton Brownell and another single by Jonas Murray that allowed Brownell to advance to third base.

Brownell scored on a wild pitch and Murray advanced to second base before advancing to third base on an error. Murray scored on a separate error in Kuddyer Baugher’s at-bat to give the Bombers a 2-0 lead.

But Aberdeen tied the game with a pair of runs in the first inning and took the lead with another run in the second inning. Aberdeen broke the game open with their eight-run third inning before scoring another run in the bottom of the fourth to invoke the 10-run rule.

Aberdeen scored six runs in the bottom of the first inning but Brookings rallied for a five-run second inning. Liam Johnson reached on an error and Kale Weiker each reached on errors before Aiden Adelmann was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Two batters later, Brownell drove in a run with a single and Lacher-Starace singled to cut the lead down to 6-3.

Murray drew a bases-loaded walk to make it a 6-4 game and the Bombers tied it up with two runs scoring on an error.

The Bombers’ rally continued in the top of the third inning when Johnson singled to lead off the inning, Adelmann and Teagan Wallace each drew walks and Brownell hit a bases-clearing triple to give Brookings a 9-6 lead.
