Jude Meendering was hit by a pitch to lead off the first and Krogman drew a walk before Hanson drove in the first run of the game with an RBI double. Brookings extended its lead in the top of the third inning when back-to-back singles by Meendering and Krogman turned into a two-run double for Noah Lease.

Krogman finished the game from there, retiring the last eight batters including five via strikeout to earn the win.
