HURON — The Brookings Bobcats showed plenty of resilience, defeating the Huron Tigers in a five-set thriller on Thursday night.
The Bobcats fell into an early hole by dropping the first set 25-11, but rebounded to even the match with a 25-19 win in the second set. Huron won a tightly-contested third set 25-23, but Brookings evened the match with a 25-14 win in the fourth set and outlasted the Tigers to win the fifth set 15-13.
Rylee Thompson led the way offensively for the Bobcats with 18 kills. Macy Even had 15 kills. Arielle Ferrell also had seven kills.
Morgan Norgaard and Rylee Thompson each had two aces. Kamryn Streich also had an ace.
Kymber Buys led the Bobcats with 31 assists.
Norgaard led the Bobcats with 29 digs. Even (18 digs), Streich and Buys (13 digs each) also had double-digit digs in the win.
Ferrell had two solo blocks and a block assist. Lily Thompson had a block. Tess Burns, Rylee Thompson and Buys each had a block assist.
The Bobcats improved to 10-6 with the win and will host Watertown at 7 p.m. Tuesday night.
