WHITE/ELKTON – Deubrook Area cruised past Oldham-Ramona/Rutland 71-10, Lake Preston beat Dell Rapids St. Mary 67-51, Elkton-Lake Benton dropped Estelline 48-33 and Arlington edged Colman-Egan 30-28 to open the Dakota Valley Conference Girls’ Basketball Tournament on Tuesday.

Cardinals, Dolphins, Divers and Lady Elks win DVC openers

WHITE/ELKTON – Deubrook Area cruised past Oldham-Ramona/Rutland 71-10, Lake Preston beat Dell Rapids St. Mary 67-51, Elkton-Lake Benton dropped Estelline 48-33 and Arlington edged Colman-Egan 30-28 to open the Dakota Valley Conference Girls’ Basketball Tournament on Tuesday.

In Friday’s semifinals, the Dolphins (9-2) take on the Divers (6-4) in White and the Lady Elks (5-4) face Arlington (5-6) in Elkton. In the consolation semifinals, the Raiders (0-10) square off with DRSM (3-7) and the Lady Redmen (2-8) meet the Hawks (3-9).

• Deubrook Area 71, Oldham-Ramona/Rutland 10

WHITE – The Dolphins jumped out to a 23-3 lead after a quarter and led 44-9 at halftime to cruise to  the 61-point win.

Cortney Bauman scored 17 points, had four steals and dished out a pair of assists to lead Deubrook Area, 9-2. Shaylee DeBeer added 12 points, two steals and two dimes.

Kylie Anderson’s five points led ORR, which dropped to 0-10.

• Lake Preston 67, Dell Rapids St. Mary 51

WHITE – Ashlyn DeKnikker continued her hot streak as the Divers posted their fourth win in a row.

The sophomore posted a double-double of 27 points and 10 steals to go with four assists. She’s averaging 27 points per game the past four contests.

Lexie Larsen added 18 points, seven rebounds and three assists. Meriah Flegel totaled 11 points, five rebounds, three assists and a pair of steals.

Olivia Christensen scored seven points and Lindsay Hillestad four to go with six dimes and five boards.

For the Cardinals, Maddi Schwebach had 14 points, Sydney Cook 13 and Ella Heinitz 11.

• Elkton-Lake Benton 48, Estelline 33

ELKTON – Callie Otkin totaled 22 points and six steals as the Lady Elks overcame an early deficit to beat the Lead Redmen.

Estelline was up 15-7 after a quarter. ELB moved ahead 23-19 at halftime and led 34-25 heading to the fourth.

Aubrey Wirth added eight points and Hannah Krog seven to go with seven rebounds. Samantha Schindler chipped in with six markers.

Estelline’s Marissa Golas scored 11 points and Tasha Vohlken added eight.

• Arlington 30, Colman-Egan 28

ELKTON – The Cardinals doubled their point total in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Hawks 15-2 to pull out the win.

Colman-Egan was up 7-6 after a quarter, 12-10 at halftime and 26-15 through three.

Maakayla Nelson scored nine points to lead Arlington. Madysn Gilbertson notched eight points and 10 rebounds. Kasey Pistulka contributed five markers, while Jeryn Christensen and Jayna Haufschild both added four.

The Hawks’ Mackenzie Hemmer posted a double-double of 10 points and 11 boards. Madison Voelker and Haleigh Nicol both added five points, and Olivia Baumberger and Braiden Westley tallied four apiece.
