Gas Out Cancer event helps raise awareness, money in Brookings

Posted

The Brookings Home Team powered by Century 21 Krogman & Co. and Schoon’s Pump N Pak (now Sinclair) teamed up once again for the annual Gas Out Cancer event.

It's a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society, Relay For Life Brookings County. From Aug. 19 through Sept. 3 (Labor Day), anyone who purchased gas at either of the locations automatically donated 1 cent for every gallon sold. Schoon’s would donate up to $1,000 and the Brookings Home Team would match that up to $1,000. The organizations will donate a total of $2,000 to Relay For Life. The Brookings Home Team also gave a way a Brookings Cinema 8 movie basket to one lucky winner.

Pictured are Shane Andersen, team lead from the Brookings Home Team, and Michelle Carlson general manager at Schoon’s. Organizers expressed gratitude to everyone for their participation and the sponsors, Dakotaland FCU, Paul Kruse State Farm and the Town & Country Shopper.
