JV BOYS

Brookings made the trek to Rapid City and picked up a pair of victories over Rushmore in the Thunderdome, winning 5-2 Saturday and 3-0 Sunday.

 Brookings 5, Rushmore 2

The Rangers scored four goals in the final period to post the win.

Cayden Jacobsma’s power-play tally early in the second knotted the score at 1-1. Jacob Drew and Kane Kurtenbach assisted.

Isaac Dobesh again tied the score – this time at 2-2 – with 14:48 remaining in the game.

Isaac Schulte netted the game-winner on a power play with 11:35 to go. Jackson Law was credited with the assist.

Jacobsma added a power-play tally with 9:32 left and Brody Powers found the back of the net with 41 seconds to play. Joseph Wu added an assist.

Brookings held a 33-18 advantage in shots on goal.

Carter Schulz made 16 saves to earn the win between the pipes.

 Brookings 3, Rushmore 0

Schulz stopped 15 shots to pick up the shutout in goal.

Scoreless through two periods, Nick Jonas opened the scoring 28 seconds into the third. Dobesh assisted.

Schulte scored with 11:58 to go and Dobesh lit the lamp again with 10:51 showing on the clock. Powers had an assist.

BANTAM A

The Rangers beat the Thunder 5-1 Saturday but fell 7-4 Sunday.

 Brookings 5, Rushmore 1

Jack Merritt netted a hat trick for the Rangers, who scored a pair of goals in each of the first two periods.

Owen Schneider (assist) and Jacob Peterson also lit the lamp.

Zach Struck dished out three assists and Luke Honkomp added one.

Goalie Egan Jensen made 20 saves.

 Rushmore 7, Brookings 4

The Rangers scored all four of their goals in the second period to move ahead 4-3; however, the Thunder countered with a four-spot of their own in the third to salvage a split.

Schneider had two goals.

Peterson (two assists) and Merritt also found the back of the net.

Struck tallied a pair of helpers and Jacob Kahle chipped in with one.

Jensen stopped 31 shots.

BANTAM B

Brookings beat Rushmore 8-4 Saturday and the teams tied 3-3 Sunday.

 Brookings 8, Rushmore 4

The Rangers put up five goals in the middle period.

Jordan Raatz had a hat trick and added an assist.

Cooper Deatherage scored twice.

Aidan Austreim (two assists), Carson Odde (assist) and Jacob Law tallied goals. Gavan Stewart contributed an assist.

Goalie Nathan Brecher made 18 saves.

 Brookings 3, Rushmore 3, tie

The Thunder scored with 49 seconds remaining to force overtime, as the game eventually ended in a tie.

Raatz (assist), Stewart and Austreim had goals.

Deatherage added an assist.

Brecher totaled nine saves.

GIRLS 14U

Six different Rangers lit the lamp in a 6-0 defeat of Watertown on Sunday in Brookings.

Taylor Hokenson, Anna Rasmussen, Taryn Richter, Sawyer Triplett, Maya Edmison and Kinzey Grendler scored.

Abriana Peterson had an assist.

Rorii Quam stopped six shots to post the shutout in goal.

PEEWEE A

The Rangers went 2-1 at home, bouncing back from a 6-3 loss to Yankton on Friday with an 8-0 defeat of Aberdeen on Saturday and a 13-0 shellacking of Oahe on Sunday.

 Yankton 6, Brookings 3

Riley Linstad (assist), Jay Harris and Jackson Heller scored goals.

Waylon Carroll added an assist.

 Brookings 8, Aberdeen 0

Linstad totaled a pair of goals and a quartet of assists.

Issak Earley lit the lamp twice.

Harris, Heller and Talon Hyde each added a goal and an assist.

Carroll also found the back of the net. Cody Jacobson had two assists and Parker Nielsen one.

 Brookings 13, Oahe 0

Linstad scored three times and dished out a trio of assists.

Jacobson, Heller and Hyde each had two goals and an assist.

Braden Dobesh lit the lamp twice, with Carroll (assist) and Harris each adding a goal. Nielsen had two assists.

SQUIRT A

The host Rangers went 0-4 in the Dakota Premier Classic over the weekend at Larson Ice Center.

 Marshall 7, Brookings 0

Neil Trygstad made 28 saves for the Rangers.

 Sioux City 5, Brookings 1

Jack Lovseth scored on an assist from Cade Zweber.

Trygstad stopped 18 shots.

 Rushmore 2, Brookings 0

Trygstad had nine saves.

 MN River 6, Brookings 3

Lovseth, Collin Jacobson and Mason Diers netted goals.

Zweber and Ethan Foerster had assists.

Trygstad ended up with 35 saves.
