BROOKINGS — A goal from South Dakota State in the very last minute of play led to a 1-1 draw between the Jackrabbits and the Drake Bulldogs on Sunday at Fishback Soccer Park.

Solala Nasu had the initial attack in the 90th minute as she shot from the top of the box and it was saved by Drake’s Addie Ford. However, freshman Zoe Wittkop was there for the rebound for the Jacks and found the back of the net to tie things up before the final horn.

Ten minutes earlier, Drake took the lead as Izzy Snowden took a cross in front of the goal and her shot hit the goalpost but then Eve Blakely hit it just over the goal line to put the Bulldogs up 1-0.

SDSU had 24 shots in the game and nine of them were on goal, while the Bulldogs had just six shots and only one of them was on goal. The Jacks had 15 corner kicks and Drake had two. SDSU had 13 fouls and Drake had five. Drake’s Maia Bentley had the lone yellow card of the match and that came in the 74th minute.

Avery Murdzek led SDSU with five shots and one of them was on goal. Adrianne Agbayni had four shots and two of them were on goal. Hailee Christensen and Katherine Jones each had three shots. Christensen had two shots on goal and Jones had one. Ellie Gusman and Wittkop each had two shots, one on goal. Avery LeBlanc had one shot that was on goal. Laney Murdzek, Lauren Eckerle and Taryn Hettich each had one shot that was not on goal.

Sunday was SDSU’s GOALd Game. The Jackrabbits sold GOALd game shirts as part of raising money with Alex’s Lemonade Stand, an organization that is a leader in funding pediatric research projects, during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.

SDSU is now 4-2-1 and will play at home again on Thursday against Wayne State. That match is set to begin at 7 p.m. at Fishback Soccer Park.
