YANKTON – Brookings senior Brooke Piearson placed second in the Yankton Invitational on Friday at Hillcrest Golf & Country Club.

Aberdeen Central’s Cassidy Gough was medalist following a round of 82.

Piearson carded an 84 and won a scorecard playoff (low back-nine score) to claim runner-up honors.

Rapid City Stevens’ Natalie Young and Aberdeen Central’s Sydney Wirebaugh also shot 84 and tied for third.

Sioux Falls O’Gorman’s Emily Olson, Carly Kunkel and Sophie Jansa, and Rapid City Stevens’ Elyse Owen tied for fifth with matching 86s.

The Lady Knights shot 349 to win the team title, while the Golden Eagles (357) were second and the host Gazelles (360) third.

Brookings did not record a team score.

Shaylee Kuehl (108) tied for 44th and Nicole Steen (117) finished 55th.

The Bobcats compete in the Mitchell Quadrangular on Monday at noon at Wild Oak. Madison and Watertown are also attending the event.
