BROOKINGS – How do the Jackrabbit women top an 11-0 run to start Thursday night’s game against Creighton at Frost Arena?

How about a 19-0 run during a 22-4 third quarter that turned the game into a laugher as South Dakota State cruised to a 74-48 win over the Bluejays.

Creighton closed within a point, 13-12, in the first quarter before the Jacks closed the frame with an 8-3 advantage to lead 21-15 after 10 minutes.

The SDSU lead went back to double digits just inside of the four-minute mark of the half on Riley Cascio Jensen’s layup, and the Jacks led 39-23 at the break following a Madison Guebert free throw.

After trading baskets to open the second half, Myah Selland started the third-quarter surge with a 3-pointer and Sydney Palmer capped the run with a pair of transition layups after back-to-back steals as SDSU’s lead ballooned to 34 points – 61-27.

Megan Bultsma’s old-fashioned three-point play with 5:59 to play gave the Jacks their largest lead at 39 points – 68-29 – before Creighton wittled the final margin to 26 points.

Macy Miller’s 23 points, 10 rebounds and three steals led SDSU, which improved to 3-1 on the season.

Selland added 13 points and three takeaways while Palmer finished with 10 points, to go along with three steals as SDSU totaled 14 takeaways on the night.

Cascio Jensen dished out five assists and added seven points.

Audrey Faber matched Miller with a 23-point night to lead the Bluejays, who dropped to 1-3. Olivia Elger hit three 3-pointers in the second half on the way to 11 points as Creighton didn’t attempt a free throw in the contest.

Notes (From SDSU Sports Information) – With 23 points, Miller moved into The Summit League’s top 10 in career scoring with 1,795. … Miller is also 56 points shy of second in career scoring at SDSU; 205 points short of 2,000 career points; and 483 points away from becoming The Summit League’s all-time scorer. … The last time the Jackrabbits recorded 14 steals in a game was Nov. 30, 2011, at Western Illinois.

The Jackrabbits head to Las Vegas for the Thanksgiving South Point Shootout, taking on Baylor on Friday, Nov. 23, before facing Buffalo on Saturday, Nov. 24.
