Ronald Eugene Jefferis, 70, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 17, 2024, at the Estelline Nursing and Care Center in Estelline, SD.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 25, 2024, at Rude’s Funeral Home in Brookings. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 26, at Rude’s Funeral Home in Brookings.
Ronald Eugene Jefferis was born on Oct. 4, 1953, the son of Marvel and Iola (Rudebusch) Jefferis. He grew up on the farm near Estelline, SD, and attended school in Estelline. Ronnie worked and lived on the family farm and in February of 2019, he moved into his own apartment in Brookings. In August of 2022, he moved into the Estelline Nursing and Care Center. Ronnie loved gardening and watching westerns and wrestling on TV.
He enjoyed driving his white 1996 Ford pickup (which he nicknamed “Grandpa”). Ronnie also enjoyed playing Bingo and loved his Diet Coke.
Ronnie was a kind and caring person. He was so friendly and well known, also, a tease. Ronnie was a caretaker for his mom and dad in their later years.
He was a member at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Estelline. He liked listening to Pastor Salem of Aberdeen, SD.
Ronnie is survived by Richard (Dinah) Jefferis, Marilyn (Wayne) Thue, Wayne (Sandra) Jefferis, Cheryl Jefferis, Linda (Roger) Anderson and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by Marvel and Iola (Rudebusch) Jefferis and brother, Gerald Jefferis.
