Ruth M Vostad-Fenner, 91, of Arlington, SD, formerly of Brookings, SD. passed away Thursday, Aug. 4, 2022, at Avantara Care Center, Arlington, SD.
Funeral services have been set for 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10, at Rude’s Funeral Home, Brookings, SD. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9, at Rude’s Funeral Home. Ruth M. Skovlund was born on July 29, 1931, in Brookings, SD, the daughter of Ludvig and Minnie (Bredaken) Skovlund.
Ruth received her education in rural school in Brookings County, SD and was a graduate of the Bruce High School in 1949. She was united in marriage to Reuben Vostad on June 10, 1950, in Bruce, SD. After their marriage they farmed near Brookings. Ruth worked at Brost Fashion until 1982, when she went to work at SDSU in the food service department. Reuben died on Dec. 14, 1991, in Brookings.
She retired from SDSU Food Service in 2007. Ruth married Robert “Bob” Fenner on May 20, 2007, in Brookings, SD.
She was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Brookings, the Church Circle, Sons of Norway, Sioux Valley Extension Club, and the Senior Citizens. She enjoyed making Raggedy Ann dolls, quilting, sewing, dancing, bingo, baking and canning.
Ruth is survived by her children, Allan (JoAnn) Vostad of Brookings, SD, David (Peggy) Vostad of White, SD, Bradley (Naomi) Vostad of Sioux Falls, SD and Lori (Jess) Donkersloot of Worthington, MN; eight grandchildren; 15 great- grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Arlene Vaske of Brookings, SD.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Reuben Vostad; her husband, Robert Fenner; three sisters, Ethel, Alice, Edna; and five brothers, Arnold, Palmer, Wendell, Harry and Howard.
