Sanford Health Brookings Clinic urges video visits

BROOKINGS – As communities are urged to practice physical distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic, Sanford Health Brookings Clinic is encouraging patients to take advantage of video visits with their health care provider.

“We’ve had questions about whether or not to come into the clinic, or if we can do this a different way,” said Dr. Jennifer Olson. “For a lot of those visits, we have been able to switch to video visits, so patients can meet with their provider and still receive high quality, safe care.”

Sanford Health offers virtual care options for a variety of health concerns, including aches, pains and every day care, as well as urgent care.

“Even though it’s not the same as an in-person visit, virtual care is a way for us to see you from the comfort and safety of your home,” said Olson “We are still here for our patients, and making sure they get the care they need in a safe way is our highest priority.”

Patients are encouraged to contact their Sanford Health clinic to evaluate whether a new or upcoming appointment should be in-person or virtual care. At that time, staff can assist with walking the patient through the process for a video visit.

“Together we can determine if we still need to see you in person, or whether a virtual care visit is a good fit,” Olson said. “For many scenarios, like prescription refills or following up on test results, virtual care is a wonderful option.”
