ST. LOUIS — South Dakota State senior Evan Beerntsen was honored Monday as Missouri Valley Football Conference Offensive Lineman of the Week for his efforts in the Jackrabbits’ home opener.
A right guard from De Pere, Wisconsin, Beerntsen graded at 85 percent and was credited with 11 pancake blocks as top-ranked SDSU defeated No. 11/12 Incarnate Word, 45-24, on Sept. 7 at Dana J. Dykhouse Stadium. The Jackrabbits racked up 31 first downs and 515 yards of total offense, passing for 385 yards and rushing for 230 more.
The award is the second of his career for Beerntsen. He previously was named MVFC Offensive Lineman of the Week in an October 2023 game against South Dakota.
SDSU returns to action Saturday by hosting Augustana in the 57th Beef Bowl game. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
