SIOUX FALLS — Jake Werner was recognized as the TicketSmarter Summit League Men’s Track Peak Performer of the Week after a fierce performance in Vermillion, league officials announced Tuesday.
Werner sprinted to victory at the USD Tune-Up, taking the 200-meter dash crown in a flat 21.00 seconds. His new personal best is now second in SDSU history and is currently the top mark in the Summit League this season.
This is Werner’s second career weekly honor and his second of the season.
South Dakota State will travel to St. Paul, Minnesota for the 2024 Summit League Outdoor Track and Field Championships on May 9-11.
