PIERRE — The Brookings Bobcats finished in seventh place as they competed in the Pierre Invitational at the Pierre Hillsview Golf Course on Tuesday morning.

The Bobcats finished with a team score of 314 and were led by Rhys Heiberger, who finished 30th with a score of 77. Andrew Heinze finished 33rd for Brookings with a score of 78 while Tyson Lunn finished 36th with a score of 79 and Issak Earley finished 37th with a score of 80 to round out the team score.

Mason Diers finished 40th with a score of 80 and Jase Bauer finished 55th with a score of 84.

"It was nice to see our guys play successfully in Pierre," Bobcats coach Andy Lee said. "I have always told our guys it's one of the more playable courses we see and they took advantage. Having two guys in the 70s is our goal for the year and we came away from Pierre with three guys in that range and two more sitting right at 80. This course can be a confidence booster for us heading into Huron on Thursday."

Pierre finished in first place at the team with a score of 273 and finished three strokes ahead of Watertown, who had a score of 276. Brandon Valley finished in third place with a score of 291, Yankton finished fourth with a score of 300 and Mitchell finished fifth with a score of 306.

Pierre’s Sawyer Sonnenschein finished in first at the tournament with a score of 64. He beat out Kaden Rylance by one stroke after he shot a 65 on Tuesday. Pierre’s Luke Olson and Nick Bothun tied for third with a score of 68 and Watertown’s Jonathan Lake finished fifth with a score of 69.

The Bobcats will hit the links again when they travel to Huron for an invitational on Thursday at 10 a.m.
