HURON — The Brookings Bobcats hit the road to compete in the Clyde Cotton Cross Country Invitational at the Broadland Creek Golf Course on Saturday morning.
The Bobcats will return to action when they host the Russ Strande Cross Country Invitational at Edgebrook Golf Course on Thursday at 4 p.m.
The Bobcats finished in second place two points behind Aberdeen Central, who won the invitational with 49 points. Custer finished third with 118 points, Watertown finished fourth with 121 points and Pierre finished fifth with 140 points.
Trevin Lounsbury finished in first place for Brookings with a time of 16:07.62. Aberdeen Central’s Carson Urlacher finished second with a time of 16:20.26 and Custer’s Sean Shipp finished third with a time of 16:22.39 before Ernest Ting crossed the finish line for the Bobcats with a time of 16:25.38.
Pierre’s Caleb Morris finished fifth with a time of 16:26.89.
Jonathan Kahler finished 13th for Brookings with a time of 16:57.55; Alex Diersen finished 16th with a time of 17:15.21; Dylan Haar finished 17th with a time of 17:23.33; Marco Springman finished 20th with a time of 17:36.72 and Shane Harming finished 41st with a time of 18:42.66.
The Bobcats finished in sixth place with a total of 134 points. Tea Area finished first with 60 points followed by Spearfish (68), Watertown (90), Aberdeen Central (115) and Pierre.
Kalla Foerster was the top finisher for Brookings, placing ninth with a time of 20:52.24. Josie Nold finished 30th with a time of 21:43.28; Masie Mogard finished 32nd with a time of 21:49.36; Sophia Schmit finished 33rd with a time of 21:50.34; and Nayree Munoz finished 34th with a time of 21:50.66.
