SIOUX FALLS — Five Brookings athletes placed on the first day of the SDHSAA State Class AA Track & Field Meet on Thursday afternoon.
Logan Smidt finished fourth in the girls javelin throw, recording a toss of 118 feet and 10 inches in the finals.
The Bobcats’ boys 4x800 meter relay team also made the podium as Nathan Smith, Ernest Ting, Trevin Lounsbury and Jon Kahler finished with a time of 8:19.95.
The State Meet will conclude at Howard Wood Field with the finals in each event on Friday.
