PIERRE — Gov. Kristi Noem and her office are now accepting applications for the Winter 2024/Spring 2025 Internship Program. This internship provides students with first-hand experience within state government and the functions of the governor’s office.

Student interns will work directly with the governor’s staff on various projects centered around office needs and students’ interests and strengths. Work may include assisting with events and meetings, research projects, and staffing the general office. Additional duties include aiding the governor’s policy team, constituent services team, general counsel, communications team, and potentially staffing the governor, lieutenant governor and first gentleman.

The length of this in-person internship is negotiable, though the ideal candidate will be available mid-December and through the entirety of South Dakota’s legislative session, which runs from Jan. 14 to March 13. The internship may be extended through mid-May depending on office needs and students’ availability.

Those who are interested and would like to be considered for an internship should submit a resume, cover letter, and letter of recommendation to Morgan.Wiegel@state.sd.us. Applications should be submitted by Nov. 8.
