EUGENE, Ore. — South Dakota State’s Caiden Fredrick placed sixth in the discus during competition at the USA Track and Field U20 Championships on Wednesday night.
A native of Papillion, Nebraska, Fredrick recorded his top mark of 183 feet, 7 inches on his fifth attempt with the 1.75-kilogram disc. The top two finishers in each event at the U20 Championships advance to the world championships in Peru in August.
Fredrick concluded his first season of collegiate competition with a third-place finish in the discus at the 2024 Summit League Championships. His throw of 176-2 with the two-kilogram disc ranks as the fifth-best mark in program history.
