Neil M. Ribstein, 87 passed away on Friday Sept. 15, 2023, at The Neighborhoods at Brookview in Brookings, SD.  
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 22, at Grace Free Lutheran Church in Bruce, SD.  A visitation will be held on Thursday, Sept. 21, from 5-7 p.m. at the Grace Free Lutheran Church.  A private family burial will be held at a later date.

Neil Marvin Ribstein was born to Bruce and Evelyn (Sedig) Ribstein on Jan. 11, 1936.  Growing up, Neil received his education in rural School District No. 112 in Brookings County, SD, and graduated from Bruce High School in 1954.  
He was united in marriage to Phyllis Colberg on Sept. 19, 1953. They would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2023.    
Neil was employed with the Brookings County Highway Department from 1960 until his retirement in 1999.  He was a member of the Grace Free Lutheran Church.  Neil enjoyed Nascar races and especially spending time with family & friends.  
Neil is survived by his wife Phyl, his sons, Curt Ribstein (Glenda Breed) of Sioux Falls, SD, Randy (Rinda) Ribstein Bruce SD, Terry Ribstein of Sioux Falls SD; 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, siblings, Gordon (Sharon) Ribstein Estelline SD, and Coral Olson of Sioux Falls SD, daughters- in-law Cindy Berrish, Sue Ribstein, Dawn Van Hoepen, Tammy Ribstein and many nieces and nephews.   
He was preceded in death by his father Bruce, mother Evelyn (Sedig) Ribstein, Stepfather Leo Oseby, his sons Jeffrey and Michael, Brother-in-Law Dwayne Olson.
