BROOKINGS — The South Dakota State soccer program will compete in 21 different competitions, including 18 regular season matches with eight coming in Summit League play, as head coach Brock Thompson announced the Jackrabbits’ 2024 schedule on Thursday.

The Jackrabbits begin the slate with their annual Blue vs. Yellow Scrimmage in Brookings on the evening of Aug. 1 as their training schedule ramps up. SDSU then participates in a pair of exhibition matches. The Jacks will travel to Omaha to face Creighton on Aug. 7, followed by hosting a 2 p.m. Aug. 10 exhibition at Fishback Soccer Park against Jamestown.

SDSU’s 2024 season officially kicks off on Aug. 15 with the Jackrabbits hosting Kansas. The Jackrabbits and Jayhawks are slated for a 7 p.m. clash at Fishback Soccer Park. The meeting will be the seventh overall between the two sides and the first in Brookings since 2016.

The Jacks will be on the road for five consecutive matches. SDSU travels to face Northern Colorado (Aug. 19), Colorado College (Aug. 22), Wyoming (Aug. 25), Western Illinois (Aug. 29) and Green Bay (Sept. 1).

South Dakota State then has a four-match span, three of which take place at home, before opening the Summit League schedule.

The Jackrabbits will be home on consecutive dates as they host Drake at 1 p.m. on Sept. 8 and Wayne State at 7 p.m. on Sept. 12. Following a trip to the West Coast to face Oregon State on Sept. 15, SDSU comes back to Brookings to close out the non-conference slate against USC Upstate at 6 p.m. on Sept. 19.

SDSU’s road contests in Summit League action include trips to Omaha (Sept. 29), St. Thomas (Oct. 6), North Dakota State (Oct. 17) and North Dakota (Oct. 20).
The Jacks will host Kansas City on Thursday, Oct. 3, at 6 p.m. SDSU will host the Interstate Series matchup, presented by First Interstate Bank, against South Dakota at 6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 11. SDSU closes out its regular season with two home matches. The Jackrabbits play Denver at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 24, followed by a 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27, meeting versus Oral Roberts.

The 2024 Summit League Women’s Soccer Championship tournament begins on the weekend of Nov. 2 with the title game slated to be played on Nov. 10. Sites for the quarterfinal, semifinal and championship matches are based off the 2024 conference standings.

SDSU returns to action following a 2023 season that saw the Jacks claim the Summit League tournament championship. The conference title was the program’s eighth conference tournament championship, SDSU’s 14th overall title as a member of The Summit League, and advanced the program to the NCAA Tournament for the seventh time.
