BROOKINGS COUNTY — Three women were seriously injured, including one with life-threatening injuries, in a two-vehicle crash Wednesday morning on U.S. Highway 14 four miles southeast of Arlington.
Names haven’t been released, and the South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the incident, which was reported at 9:59 a.m. It involved two people from Huron — a driver, 41, and a passenger, 45 — in a 1995 Ford Explorer and a 66-year-old person from Brookings driving a 2000 Chevrolet Impala.
Preliminary information indicates the driver of the Explorer was eastbound on U.S. 14 near mile marker 404. The vehicle crossed the center line and entered the westbound lane and collided head-on with the westbound Impala.
The Explorer’s driver was ejected and sustained serious non-life-threatening injuries. Her passenger suffered life-threatening injuries. Neither were wearing seat belts.
