BROOKINGS — The Mission of the Month for July at the Mission Coffeehouse in First Lutheran Church is Brookings Volunteer Service Bank.

The Brookings Volunteer Service Bank has been serving the Brookings community for over 25 years. It is a locally funded, nonprofit organization that is committed to making a difference. Its mission is to have neighbor helping neighbor to assist the elderly, handicapped, youth and underprivileged with volunteer help.

The organization provides a chance to get involved — adopt a grandparent and gain knowledge and a friend in the Brookings community. Provide transportation and drive elderly, handicapped, youth and underprivileged to medical appointments in and around Brookings. (mileage is reimbursed for drives outside of Brookings) Be an errand helper and provide transportation to and from the grocery store to pick up pre-ordered groceries or assist with grocery shopping.
