College softball: Jackrabbits go 2-2 in Kansas

LAWRENCE, Kan. – The South Dakota State softball team went 2-2 in four games in Kansas over the weekend.

The Jackrabbits beat Central Arkansas 3-0 and then lost to No. 6 Stanford 6-0 on Friday. They then split a doubleheader with Kansas on Sunday, beating the Jayhawks 2-1 in game one before falling 5-3 in the second game. SDSU was supposed play Stanford again on Saturday but the game was canceled due to weather.

Mia Jarecki and Alexa Williams homered in the win over Central Arkansas. Tori Kniesche pitched seven shutout innings in the win and had 10 strikeouts and just two walks.

Emma Osmundson went 2-for-3 with an RBI in the win over Kansas on Sunday. The Jacks scored two runs in the fourth inning and then held off the Jayhawks the rest of the way. Kniesche picked up her second win of the weekend as she pitched seven innings again and had eight strikeouts and four walks with one earned run.

SDSU is now 14-10 on the season and will play at No. 1 Oklahoma on Monday at 6 p.m.
