High school volleyball: Sioux Valley Cossacks finish third at Lake Preston Invite

LAKE PRESTON — The Sioux Valley volleyball team came in third place in the Lake Preston Invite on Saturday.

The Cossacks beat Arlington in their opening match of the tournament then lost to Estelline/Henddricks in the semifinals and topped Iroquois/Lake Preston in the third place match.

Sioux Valley is now 9-4 and plays at Milbank on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.

• Sioux Valley 2, Arlington 0

Sioux Valley opened the tournament with a sweep of Arlington. The Cossacks won the first set 25-22 and then finished the Cardinals off with a 25-20 win in set two.

Kaedyn Sapp led the Cossacks with eight kills and 13 digs. Allie Hofer had seven kills and five digs. Sunny Hesby had 12 assists and five digs. Machaela Gerasch had six assists and three digs. Talya Vincent had nine digs.

Arlington was led by Harley Johnson who had six kills and four digs. Addalyn Steffensen had four kills and six digs. Isabelle Steffensen had 11 assists and 10 digs. Jolyssa Steffensen and Madalynn Bacon each had five digs.

Estelline/Hendricks 2, Sioux Valley 0

The Cossacks were swept by the Redhawks in the semifinals. Estelline/Hendricks won the first set 25-19 and then took the second set 25-23.

Sioux Valley was led by Sapp again as she had seven kills and 12 digs. Adison Renkly had six kills and seven digs. Hesby had 12 assists and Gerasch had eight assists. Russell had eight digs and Vincent had 13 digs. Hofers had five kills.

The Redhawks were led by Kenzy Beare who had 12 kills and 11 digs. Brooke Johnson had 15 digs and four kills. Sadie Johnson had 23 assists and eight digs. Rachel Hexem had seven digs.

Sioux Valley 2, Iroquois/Lake Preston 0

It was another sweep in the third place match and this time Sioux Valley came out on top. The Cossacks won each set 25-20.

Sapp had eight kills and 13 digs. Renkly had six kills and eight digs. Hesby and Gerasch each had 11 assists. Hesby also had five digs and Vincent had eight digs. Hofer had five kills.

The Sharks were led by Adison Moore who had 12 digs. Hadlee Holt had six digs and four kills. Elena Campagnolo had eight digs and Rebecca Bich five digs and 14 assists.
