BROOKINGS — The Mission of the Month at the Mission Coffeehouse in First Lutheran Church for February is Brookings Regional Humane Society.

The BRHS mission is to shelter homeless pets, to protect animals by finding permanent loving homes through an aggressive adoption outreach program. To educate the community about companion animals and promote responsible pet care and pet ownership.

BRHS takes in unclaimed stray animals from Brookings Animal Control and provides them with necessary wellness care including spaying/neutering of animals before adopting them out. BRHS also maintains a food pantry program to provide short-term assistance to those facing hardships that could jeopardize their ability to keep their pets.

BRHS gratefully accepts donations of bleach, food, blankets, paper towels, Brookings Hy-Vee receipts, money and other items as well as the gift of time from dedicated volunteers. Located near the Brookings Airport at 120 W. Second St S. Call 605-697-PETS (7387) for hours or more information.
