Names released in deadly motorcycle crash near White

WHITE — A Pipestone, Minnesota, man has been identified as the person who died Sunday evening in a two-vehicle crash east of White.

Preliminary crash information indicates that a 2001 Harley Davidson motorcycle and a 2009 Harley Davidson motorcycle were traveling south on 486th Avenue. The lead motorcycle lost control going around a curve. The second motorcycle rear-ended the lead motorcycle. Both motorcycles came to rest in the west ditch.

Blake Edwin Olsen, 29, of Pipestone was the driver of the second motorcycle. He was taken to Hendricks Community Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The male driver of the lead motorcycle, Taylor James Shellum, 32, of Trent was also taken to the hospital in Hendricks with minor injuries.

Neither driver was wearing a helmet, and alcohol use is under investigation.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. All information released so far is only preliminary.
